Rena Ferdin has been down the path that troubled youth are headed toward in today's hectic society. Fortunately that road changed direction one day and she now stands up to tell the youth of today there is a better route. Rena serves as the vice president of AACTS and also teaches drug and alcohol education as well as anger management.
Matthew M. Ortiz was born in November of 1981, in Stockton, CA and grew up in Lathrop, CA. He attended kindergarten through second grade in Stockton and later finished grade school in Lathrop. He went to high school in Manteca, CA where he was an honor roll student and received acceptance to the University of the Pacific. While studying as an engineer at the university, Matthew met his wife, Clara, whom he married three and a half years later. During their engagement Matthew and Clara became Board Members for the non-profit organization, AACTS (Adolescents and Adults Choosing True Solutions). Matthew has been an instructor for the ACTS (Alcohol and Chemical Treatment Series) and the new AACTS program since the summer of 2006. He was introduced to the ACTS program while actively attending the Manteca church, Tabernacle of Praise. Matthew never thought he would be instructing a class of young men and women, but after a few classes he began to build relationships with the students and developed a true burden for them. Matthew feels honored to be an instructor and active Board Member of the AACTS program.
